Taxes Defaults

To setup and edit tax defaults go to Maintenance -> Defaults on the top menu. The @Quote Plus Defaults window will open up. Click on the Taxes [030515] tab.

Use the Taxes tab to set up and edit the following information:

Sales Tax Rates: The Sales Tax Rates grid allows you to enter sales tax rates for various locations. Note the scroll bar at the bottom of the grid which allows you to view the entire grid.

Since sales tax rates on the Job form are selected by Location, make sure you enter both the Location and the Tax Rate % in the grid (for example, enter Erie County for the Location and 8.00 to indicate an 8% Tax Rate %). You will probably want to have a "None" entry with a rate of zero for jobs where Tax Type is not applicable. Check the OTC box for over-the-counter (retail) sales.

The grid also allows you to enter an Account Name and the Vendor. These fields are used when configuring @Quote Plus 32 to interface with third-party accounting applications.

To add a new entry/row to the Sales Tax Rate grid, simply click on the last row and press the down arrow (↓) key on your keyboard. To edit an entry, click on the entry and type over it. To delete an entry, click on it and click Delete.

Apply first tax to Jobs: [021104] Check this box to make the first tax location/rate listed on the Sales Tax Rates grid, above, your default Tax Type on the Job screen. Leave the box uncheck and the Tax Type field on the Job screen will remain blank as your default.

Local Employee Tax Rates: [030515] The Local Employee Tax Rates grid allows you to enter employee tax rates for various locations. This field is useful when your installers do work in more than one tax jurisdictions (e.g. if the same installers do work more than one state and you want to keep track of this). Note the scroll bar at the bottom of the grid which allows you to view the entire grid.

As with the sales tax rates, the local tax rates on the Job form are selected by Location, so make sure you enter both the Location and the Tax Rate % in the grid (for example, enter Cincinatti for the Location and 2.00 to indicate a 2% Tax Rate %). You will probably want to have a "None" entry with a rate of zero for jobs where Local Tax is not applicable.

Like the Sales Tax Rate Grid, the Local Tax Rate grid also allows you to enter Account Names and Vendors when using @Quote Plus 32 in conjunction with other applications.

To add a new entry/row to the Local Employee Tax Rate grid, simply click on the last row and press the down arrow (↓) key on your keyboard. To edit an entry, click on the entry and type over it. To delete an entry, click on it and click Delete.

Click Close to save changes and exit the Defaults window.
